SISSIWIT

This song is played as an introduction to our network meetings and is able to calm us sufficiently to communicate freely with other members.

DID YOU KNOW?

The popular song ” SISSIWIT” is a Kalinga (in the Philipines) song originally recorded by the “Simple Tone” Band.

It was composed and sung by HILAIR WACDAGAN, of Tanudan, Kalinga. The said band is a regular in Concerts for a Cause.

The song became extremely popular in the North (Ilocano speaking Regions) and is usually sung and performed during weddings, programs, events and happy occassions, accompanied by traditional Cordillera Dances.

Sissiwit in Kalinga means bird. This unconventional, up beat, easy to sing and memorable song united not only the Cordilleras but the whole of the North. It is proven once again that musicians can indeed inspire change by engaging the youth through arts and indigenous songs and by bringing the people together as ONE for peace.
